WP4: Project management and evaluation
WP leader and project coordinator: Prof. Dr. Hojka Kraigher
Introduction
WP4 is mainly a support and supervision WP covering management, long-term RID strategy, project management and ex-post evaluation. It will be focused mainly on the joint conception of a long-term RID strategy for SFI, combined with an ex-post evaluation of the EUFORINNO results and sustainability by external experts, and on an improved RID policy providing further career development possibilities to employees.
Description of work
The WP4 activities will introduce within SFI some complementary resources in long-term scientific planning. Part of the activities will be focused on ensuring that the management of the EUFORINNO project is performed in conformity with the highest EU management standards and evaluating the overall success of EUFORINNO and the sustainability of the results achieved.
Within WP4 four meetings of the Advisory Board shall be organized, as well as four annual meetings of the technical board, and regular meetings of the management team.
The role of the Advisory Board
The Advisory Board (AB) will oversee the proper project execution. It is chaired by the Project Coordinator and receives reports on progress. The Board will be responsible for reviewing the scientific, technical and strategic aspects of the project. It is responsible for the global management of the project, ensuring that the project meets its objectives, achieves excellence, manages risk, and that the deliverables are produced on time and according to budget. One of the long-term tasks of the AB is to support SFI in developing long-term marketing of the project results, i.e. of the Slovenian Forestry Excellence Centre. The Advisory Board is composed of senior representatives and Working Package (WP) leaders from SFI, eight partner entities, and four important national stakeholders (public authority, public directorate, and industry).
The external evaluation
The evaluation of the project will be done by international independent experts, chosen by the European Commission. These experts will study the project results and assess whether the goal of increasing excellence has been reached; and whether the institute has sufficiently anticipated the future to have built sustainable excellence.
