WP2: Scientific excellence
WP leader: Tine Grebenc, Ph.D.
Introduction
The WP2 is ambitious since it consists of a package of activities which taken together will enhance the scientific excellence of the researchers at SFI, their research methodology and RID outputs.
Description of work
The WP2 consists of recruiting experienced scientists/specialised postdocs and exchanging knowledge though two-way secondments, trainings and conferences (organised and attended).
Within the project, tree scientists will be recruited, one senior scientist specialised in on-the-field trace gas isotope technology and mortality in forest ecosystems, a specialised postdoc as IRMS operator, and a specialised postdoc for microscopy techniques and functional physiology.
The second activity comprises secondments of SFI researchers at CP facilities (outgoing) and training by CP staff at SFI for on-site training and joint development of SOP (incoming). For outgoing secondments the full programme has been established in order for researchers to acquire the missing knowledge SFI has targeted to develop in its RID strategy. In order to facilitate the durable adoption of new methodologies and protocols, collaborative partners will come to SFI for two rounds of training, for 5-day training periods and for 15-day training periods.
The third activity of SFI will be organisation of scientific workshops and conferences and the active participation of its staff in high quality events in Europe to ensure that RID results are widely visible in the research community.
Impact of WP2 on global, national and international scale
Global scale: intensification of exchanges, co-operation and joint projects with EUFORINNO partners, and communication among work groups and individuals.
National scale: a higher level of collaboration on a national scale will lead to greater excellence of results and of the impact of research within Slovenia.
International scale: organised international conferences and workshops will render SFI more visible at the international level.
